He was rather certain that Alfred, even without saying much, would have gotten all the necessary information, which means any of the usual questions would be only a repetition. So instead, he crouches on Ace's other side, petting him, as well.
"How has your day been, Brad?"
Dick might have been tired, but simple hospitality and friendliness didn't cos that much.
